About the Organization
An international legal advisory firm—recognized for its industry-focused strategy and collaborative culture—is seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager to join its U.S. Business Development team. This role reports to senior BD leadership and will be based in the New York office, with responsibility for mentoring a junior colleague.

 

Role Overview
You’ll partner with practice leaders in the Corporate Transactions group (including M&A, private equity, and securities) to execute go-to-market initiatives that build client relationships, enhance the firm’s brand, and drive new revenue streams. Key Responsibilities

Go-To-Market Strategy & Materials

  • Collaborate with practice‐group leadership to develop and produce pitches, RFP responses, client-development presentations, and thought-leadership publications—ensuring consistency with brand and style guidelines.

  • Identify and prioritize pursuit opportunities based on strategic plans, market insights, and commercial potential; lead follow-up outreach to convert leads into engagements.
     

Content & Communications

  • Coordinate with attorneys and communications colleagues to develop client alerts, articles, and external announcements showcasing key deals and sector expertise.

  • Oversee the timely delivery of external communications—managing review cycles, vendor relationships, and quality control.
     

Engagement Analytics & Channels

  • Track client interactions and outreach effectiveness using CRM and experience-management systems; generate budget, ROI, and pipeline reports with actionable recommendations.

  • Leverage social media and other digital channels to amplify the practice’s profile; identify new platforms and tactics to reach target audiences.
     

Events & Directory Submissions

  • Partner with the in-house events team to plan and execute industry conferences, client seminars, and practice retreats—handling logistics, invitations, materials, on-site management, and post-event follow-up.

  • Lead submissions to legal directories and industry surveys, coordinating with practice heads to gather accolades, deal highlights, and prepare for interviews.
     

Team Leadership & Internal Support

  • Mentor and coach junior BD staff on best practices, project management, and client-focused communications.

  • Facilitate the onboarding of lateral hires by coordinating introductions, training materials, and integration plans.

  • Prepare internal presentations and monthly updates to keep stakeholders informed of BD activities and achievements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 8+ years of business development, marketing, or communications experience—preferably within a professional-services environment.

  • Proven track record supporting corporate-transactional practices (M&A, PE, securities).

  • Strong project-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines and shifting priorities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with attention to detail and quality control.

  • Empathetic collaborator who can build credibility with senior lawyers and cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM and experience-management platforms is a plus.
