About the Organization
An international legal advisory firm—trusted by leading corporations, financial institutions, and government entities—is seeking a dedicated Business Development & Marketing Manager to join its Public Policy, Regulatory, and Government Affairs practice. You’ll work with senior lawyers and senior BD leadership to deepen client relationships, raise the group’s profile, and drive strategic growth across domestic and international markets.
Role & Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Infrastructure

Lead annual business-plan development for the public-policy practice, defining priorities, budgets, and measurable objectives.

Partner with BD leadership and practice-group heads to translate strategic goals into tactical marketing and outreach programs.

Oversee onboarding and integration activities for lateral hires, ensuring they quickly engage with key clients and referral channels.
Business Development Initiatives

Design and execute targeted client-outreach campaigns, thought-leadership platforms, and networking events (seminars, roundtables, workshops).

Gather competitive intelligence and conduct market research to identify emerging policy trends, potential clients, and growth opportunities.

Manage CRM data—keeping contact records, matter histories, and event participation up to date for planning and reporting purposes.
Pitches, Proposals & Collateral

Own the creation and management of RFP responses, pitch presentations, and marketing materials—drafting content and aligning visuals with the practice’s messaging.

Maintain practice descriptions and lawyer bios across shared systems, regularly reviewing for accuracy and freshness.

Coordinate directory and league-table submissions, working with communications to collect achievements and deal highlights.
Events & Profile Building

Plan and execute practice-specific events—both virtual and in-person—including logistics, invitations, materials, on-site support, and post-event follow-up.

Identify sponsorship, conference, and speaking opportunities that enhance visibility for both the practice group and individual lawyers.
Team Leadership & Operations

Provide guidance and mentorship to junior BD & marketing colleagues, delegating tasks and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

Develop and document processes and playbooks covering project workflows, training modules, and system usage to support team scalability.

Monitor program budgets, analyze ROI, and recommend resource-allocation adjustments as needed.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

At least 6 years of business development, marketing, or communications experience—ideally within professional services or government-affairs settings.

Strong project-management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives under tight deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication; adept at drafting persuasive materials and facilitating high-level presentations.

Proactive, resourceful, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Demonstrated leadership in supervising colleagues, setting priorities, and refining team processes.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM platforms (e.g., experience-management systems) is a plus.
