Business Development & Marketing Manager – Employee Relations & Benefits​

About the Organization
An international legal services firm—known for advising major corporations, funds, and institutions on high-stakes matters—is seeking a Business Development & Marketing Manager to join its Employee Relations & Benefits practice. You’ll work alongside senior attorneys and BD leadership to develop growth strategies, elevate the group’s market profile, and support key practice initiatives.

 

Role Overview & Core Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Infrastructure

  • Partner with practice leaders to craft and implement the annual BD plan, including budget development, target objectives, and performance metrics.

  • Oversee day-to-day workflow to ensure alignment with firmwide priorities and exceptional client service.

  • Support the integration of lateral hires, helping them connect with key clients and referral sources.
     

Business Development & Profile Building

  • Design and execute targeted client campaigns, thought-leadership series, and networking programs (seminars, roundtables, webinars).

  • Conduct competitive and market research to uncover industry trends, growth opportunities, and potential client segments.

  • Maintain CRM data—updating contact records, matter histories, and event participation for effective planning and reporting.

  • Coordinate firm-wide directory and awards submissions, working with communications to gather achievements and case highlights.
     

Pitches, Proposals & Collateral

  • Lead the creation of RFP responses, pitch decks, and marketing materials—drafting content, managing visual assets, and liaising with attorneys for approvals.

  • Develop new brochures and update existing collateral; ensure practice and lawyer profiles remain current and accurate.
     

Events & Local Office Support

  • Plan and execute practice-specific events—both in-office and virtual—including logistics, invitations, materials, onsite coordination, and follow-up outreach.

  • Assist with local sponsorship opportunities, community initiatives, and integration of new office-based attorneys.
     

Team Leadership & Operations

  • Mentor and supervise junior BD & marketing colleagues, delegating tasks and ensuring high-quality deliverables.

  • Document and refine internal processes—creating playbooks for project management, onboarding, and system usage.

  • Monitor program budgets, analyze ROI, and recommend resource adjustments as needed.

 

Ideal Background & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.

  • 6+ years in business development, marketing, or communications—preferably within professional services or employee-relations fields.

  • Proven project-management skills; adept at multitasking under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong attention to detail.

  • Collaborative and service-oriented mindset; comfortable engaging senior attorneys and external stakeholders.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM platforms and competitive-intelligence tools is a plus.
